چکیده

Radioimmunoassay of human growth hormone (HGH) using adsorption to talc was examined. Results are as follows: 1) The minimal detectable amount of HGH was 0.02 ng/ml. The mean recovery rate was 100.8%. Mean +standard error (S.E.) of the same two samples, repeatedly measured eight times, were 3.5+0.2 and 35.4+0.5 ng/ml, respectively . Concentrations of the same acromegalic plasma diluted in different ratios showed good proportionality. 2) No significant difference in precision was found between this method and the double antibody precipitation method. HGH concentrations of the same plasma sam-

Preparation of ligand-free human serum for radioimmunoassay by adsorption on activated charcoal.

I describe a convenient method for stripping hormones and other ligands from human serum. Formation of a serum/charcoal colloid is avoided by incubating serum on a limited surface area with activated charcoal, in a lateral oscillating shaker. Particle-free serum of negligible turbidity is obtained without ultracentrifugation by ejecting the centrifugate through a cellulose ester membrane. By th...

Surface pre-coating of talc particles by carboxyl methyl cellulose adsorption : study of adsorption and consequences on surface properties and settling rate

This paper investigates the adsorption of different sized carboxyl methyl cellulose (CMC) onto talc particles (adsorption isotherm, adsorption reversibility), its consequences on the particles properties (electrophoretic mobility and surface wetting) and its effect on their dispersion (settling coefficient). Throughout the paper, the properties of talc particles dispersed in CMC solution are co...

The effect of baclofen on growth hormone, thyroxine, and triiodothyronine in Holstein cows

In this research study, the effect of baclofen (GABAB receptor agonist) on mean concentration of growth hormone, thyroxine, and triiodothyronine was examined. For this purpose, twelve Holstein Cows were divided into four groups. Then, each cow received daily injection of 25, 50, 75, and l00 mg/kg of baclofen for a period of four days. Blood samples were daily collected at one time point for eig...

Flotation and Adsorption of a New Polysaccharide Depressant on Pyrite and Talc in the Presence of a Pre-Adsorbed Xanthate Collector

The flotation and adsorption of a new polysaccharide konjac gum (KG) on pyrite and talc in the presence of pre-adsorbed potassium butyl xanthate (PBX) is investigated. The micro-flotation results show that KG is a quality depressant for talc and that conditioning the minerals initially with PBX before KG will increase the recovery difference between pyrite and talc. The results of artificially ...

A Microcalorimetry Study of the Binding of Nickel Ion by Human Growth Hormone

A binding study of nickel ions by a new recombinant human Growth Hormone (hGH), produced as an injected drug, has been done at 27˚C in NaCl solution (50 mM) using an isothermal titration calorimetry. There is a set of three identical and non-interacting binding sites for nickel ions. The intrinsic dissociation equilibrium constant and the molar enthalpy of binding are 40 μM and -16...
